Note: The first OVA was broadcast edited on television in two different versions, a long version which was aired on MBS on June 27, 2010 and a short version which was aired on seven other stations between June 27 and 30. The uncut version of Black Lagoon Roberta’s Blood Trail, Episode 1, premiered at Anime Expo on July 1, 2010, more than two weeks ahead of its Japanese DVD & Blu-ray release date of July 17.

In extreme cases this may lead to scenes with important character safely running around in the open under concentrated fire from multiple unimportant gunmen. They just can`t aim. badass no description set yet brutal The anime features several scenes of unrefined violence. Some of the protagonists display unrestrained primal behaviour. chainsaw A chainsaw (or chain saw) is a portable mechanical saw, used in all sorts of activities related to maintenance or removal of trees. In the last few decades, chainsaws started to appear as weapons in popular culture, specially in horror movies. They are generally used in scenes in which a character is brutally (and usually very graphically) murdered or tortured (or both) by another. crime syndicate no description set yet ex-KGB member no description set yet girls with guns From pistols and sniper rifles to fully automatic machine guns and grenade launchers - some or many of the female characters have selected guns as their weapon of choice, and they`re not afraid to prove it. hacker Individual to break in other people`s computers. heavy smoking Someone in the story consumes more than one supply of their preferred method of inhaled substance by the end of the episode/series. improbable physics The physics in this anime have little to do with real-world physics, and are actually very much exaggerated.

Examples: Cars hitting a tiny obstacle, but then flying through the air for no apparent reason, or flimsy bullets slamming heavy characters clear across the room. interesting supporting characters no description set yet killer maid Who would you like me to kill next, goshujinsama? killing - murdering protagonist The show features protagonists that have no problems at all with the usually dubious act of killing members of their own species.

Heroic characters may decide to kill due to duty or necessity for the so-called greater good. Darker characters may do so for profit or personal gain. lots of blood This anime contains a fair amount of bloody scenes. master-servant relationship To some genres, this would suggest a genuine pairing where one person exists to serve another person, such as in some action/dramas where the pair becomes united by destiny as partners - fighting or battles between different pairs/partners will usually be a dominant part of the story.

In other genres, this suggests a relationship where one person may be occupied as or even forcefully treated as a servant or slave to the other who designates themself the master - these services usually apply anywhere from tsundere/romantic-comedies to ecchi or to the more extreme in hentai. nuns with guns Pretty self-explanatory. Guns don`t kill people. Nuns do. police are useless The civilian law enforcement representatives do not seem to be of much use, when trying to take on the usually vastly superior foes.

The "helpless" and often clumsy antics of the police can be used as a comedy element. rotten world no description set yet ruthless protagonist The protagonist seems not to be bound by human moral or ethical law. He uses any means necessary to achieve his ultimate goal. They include, but are not limited to: torture, murder, sacrificing friends, brainwashing, lying, massacre, partisan tactics and taking hostages.

Examples: Light from Death Note, Lelouch from Code Geass, Munsu from Shin Angyo Onshi, Gutts and Griffith from Berserk. shower scene The anime contains a shower scene, obligatory for ecchi anime. The person under the shower will most likely be female — providing "fanservice". skimpy clothing most fit for the job When a job needs to get done you need the appropriate clothing on the appropriate persons. That calls for preferably scantily clad young ladies. Spies will dress in sexy outfits, even when the mission explicitly calls for them to not to be noticed. Female warriors will charge into battle wearing armour that does not protect the vital organs. Bridge officers on a military starship will be issued go-go boots with their uniforms. Examples are the women in VanDread, AIKa or the most famous incarnation of that tag, the Strike Witches and their precursor the Sky Girls. strong female lead The lead female character has a strong personality and plays a part that is not the typical damsel-in-distress role.

This is the exact opposite of the “damsel in distress” tag. violent female lead The female main character — though possibly quite cute and “nice” at times — is prone to violent behaviour, usually against some male character(s).

Often quite typical of a ‘tsundere’.
